5 on ISEE verbal

I actually took the ISEE twice with the first time 70 and second time 84 or 85 and then I took the SSAT verbal and got a 98th. I don’t know why but it was just easier for me because I studied with the 504 terms book and I like analogies.
(edit: I think I already stated this but I did vocabulary.com which was so fun because we did it as a class and I low key like winning so that leaderboard consumed my time…not that anyone else cared. It was just two birds one stone for me. )

Upper level SSAT has more sophisticated use and testing of vocabulary than ISEE. I think both have more demanding vocabulary usage than SAT. The reading comprehension is somewhat more difficult on the SAT but not by much. The ability to know multiple meanings of a word and use those words in an analogy is very difficult. It requires less skill to infer the meaning of a word while reading a passage.

test tmrw, i think ive memorized like all of the 504 terms words, do you have any last-minute tips to increase my score? (strategies and such)

A lot of the time, the word choices for synonyms of a word will be something like a word close to the actual synonym and a word opposite of the word, for ex:
scarcity:
gone
lack
ampleness
terror
Lack is the correct answer but if you look closely, ampleness is pretty much the antonym for scarcity, and gone can be mistaken for scarce but is most likely not the right answer. Use that as you will for process of elimination or educated guesses, if my example synonym set was confusing, sorry, I made it in a rush). If you ever find a hard synonym set, use the word in a sentence and replace it with each word choice to see if you can still comprehend the sentence. Get sleep, don’t cram, HYDRATE, eat well, and good luck, (I hope you see this message before your test- sorry for the late reply)!

Alright, thanks for the tips! (I did see this before my test)
