picture frames: goskid 1 went thru phase of wanting all pictures in frames. Fastforward to new apartment: she had more than enough and somehow, the excess ended up with me. I deposited 57 unwanted frames (not all hers) at Goodwill. Do not want any more!
I would not want Cards Against Humanity - not my thing at all
@Madison85, I’m from a culture that doesn’t give money for weddings and so on, but I think that just about everyone agrees that money is always a good gift for a HS or college graduate, unless you know they have a trust fund and genuinely don’t need it.
Picture frames? MORE college attire? That article is ridiculous.
Cards Against Humanity is fun, but hardly a go-to grad gift.
I actually bought S a large rolling duffel and a European-sized rolling carry-on as a grad gift, since he had no really functional luggage and was leaving to France and other countries for a year 10 days after graduation.
I cannot think of any of my kiddos’ friends who would want a picture frame. LOL!
Older S is graduating college in less than 2 weeks. I asked him what would be the most useful and he said " A set of Luggage". (He travels a lot!) We got it for him so he could travel a few months ago during the Christmas break! 
PS: A gorgeous designer 4 piece brand new set from EBAY. It worked out really great and the set is really well made.
We gave the same present Thumper1 and Consolation did.
I would love picture frames, but I’m at the point where I’m finally looking at staying at a job for more than a year or two, so help decorating would actually be helpful. BUT I still would rather have a Target/Michael’s/somewhere else that sells that stuff gift card, because then I can pick what I want and match it to the decor I already have.
When I graduated from grad school my grandmother sent me a beautiful strand of pearls and matching earrings–I wear the earrings every day and the necklace when appropriate. It’s definitely nice to have some “grown-up” jewelry that I know I will have for a long time.
When I graduated from undergrad my parents didn’t necessarily get me a gift (which is fine), BUT they did help me to move to Indiana over the summer (from California) for grad school.
For grad school their intent was to help me put a down payment on a car, but because I ended up needing one so quickly that didn’t happen; which was fine. Instead they helped me move to CO.
I didn’t need furniture because I work in University Housing, so I’ve lived in dorms since my freshman year, all of which were mostly furnished. My coworkers and I joke that we’ll be the 30-year-olds with the IKEA furnished apartments because none of us will move off campus until then.
They also helped me with money between when I started work and when I got my first paycheck.
Cold Hard Cash is always welcome, be it in check or cash. Second is if there are needed items - and either know exactly what they want or again money towards what is needed. DD picked out bed for first apartment and other odds/ends to help furnish necessities.
