I never disputed that I was a weirdo. I thought that was a given:p

The first time I attempted to read Animal Farm was in 4th grade, I didn’t understand anything but it turned me into a vegetarian. I think the reason I’m so strange is because I read books by George Orwell while I was still developing, hehee.

I’m so strange because I was reading in the adults section long before I should have lol

Haha I know, I read stories by Poe when I was younger and now, I am so scared of the dark, I have to sleep with a nightlight at the age of 14. Embarrassing much?

ya… my little mind wasnt prepared for some of the books i read, like The Diary of Anne Frank in 4th grade. i cried during class :(

Who has seen the movie Shutter Island~ Best analytical thriller movie EVER

Same with me blue raven, I checked out a book and the librarian said it would be too hard for me to understand when I was 6th grade. Turned out I had already read it in 4th grade!!!
Lol at the link Rad. It’s very funny. Have any more?

I remember at age 5 arguing with the school librarian to let me check out 5th grade chapter books.

I LOVE THAT! I watched the orginal show! SecURity…Se-CU-rity…LOL

I remember sneaking books out of the school library because apparently I was too young to read them in third grade. In first grade we had this system where there were like, 5 class reading levels. You had to read all this listed books in one level before you could move on to the next. I never advanced beyond the first one because I was reading chapter books already!

I had a system like that in pre-K/ Kindergarten (Montessori)

I remember in 1st grade we had a reading challenge by the state to read all the books in a first grade list. i failed it because they were so boring they wre all but picture books. I did however read the 4th grade books for the challenge ;)

Until 3rd grade I purposely rigged my tests so I was in the top group but not the gifted group. The gifted group had to…wait for it… WORK! In the 3rd grade I screwed up my system when I did well (top 1% in the country) on a English test for the gifted children or whatever. My parents signed me up for it and the school thought they were being nuts. My parents made me swear to try my hardest. Besides my parents were always yelling at me about not trying hard in school. Then they put me in the gifted group with all the full of themselves kids away from all my friends, doing boring work… It was just as bad as I thought it would be! and now to my 2nd grade selfs horror I’m willingly applying for more work.

in my school in like one of the younger grades 1 or 2nd i wanted to take out pippi longstocking, but the librarian thought i wouldnt be able to read it so i had to read part of a page out loud to her b4 i could borrow it!

ew, why wouldn’t at least let you try? lame…

i have no idea, but i was like seriously? i have to read this page to you to borrow the book?

@ rad-in-plad: I went to montessori kindergarten too. It was awesome, and I went to school with the lead singer of greenday’s kid. We learned chinese :), which I have since forgotten :(

@blueraven: when I was little I wanted more work…they put me in the gifted program in 3rd grade, and we got to do brain puzzles and research projects while the other chumps learned multiplication. Back then my research projects were kinda lame (how to teach kids how to read, philanthropy [with my friend who i ended up fighting with]) but now we enter our projects in National History Day, and its amazingly awesome (Japanese Internment in WWII, Audrey Hepburn, and Dime Novels!!! Yay!!!). I think I’m driven by competition… and history. XD Anyone else do NHD?
