<p>This isn’t totally true. The main job of the uvula is similar to a lymph node AND when swallowing, covers up the nasal passage so no debris gets in.</p>
<p>Happens to me a lot…especially after tonsils were removed in my late teens. It’s just where the infection settles for me. Usually disappears after 5-7 days. It’s annoying and uncomfortable, but not dangerous IMHO.</p>

Had tonsils out and in subsequent years have had issues with swollen uvula…may be coincidental, may not. </p>
<p>When I was a kid I thought the uvula was the tonsils. I don’t remember exactly when I found out where the tonsils actually were…</p>
<p>I think I was in my late 20’s before I found out that it wasn’t part of the tonsils. </p>
