A Bit of an Update on my S's summer Seattle wedding

You’re seeing the home stretch ema! We are rooting for you!

Hang in there Ema. Is there any way you can cancel the brunch since none of the out-of-town family will be there anyway? You can even use being sick as an excuse. Frankly, I’ve never heard of the bride hosting a day-after brunch. You should be resting and packing for your honeymoon instead.

Apparently his sister had brunches after each of her weddings, so he thinks it’s the thing to do. I was going to cancel it but he was devastated and horribly sorry so I just let it go, admittedly after I tore his head off-- I admit I lost it for a moment. I hate hearing “I forgot” when I reminded him repeatedly-- that isn’t “forgetting,” that’s being irresponsible. It is what it is, and it was his party to wreck anyway, I was not the one invested in it. I suppose it will make me look good for FMIL to still have it and that’s never a bad thing. I’d look like a real witch for taking his party away even if he deserves it. But I think now I might sleep in and make him do all the work! So it will all work out. A marriage can’t work if you sweat the small stuff, and I’m not marrying him because he’s perfect. I’m sure if I think really hard I can come up with SOMETHING of equal importance that I’ve botched. ;)

My busia took me shopping today and I got a pair of $90 Ralph Lauren jeans for $24 at Macy’s, so that was my really big stressor solved! LOL! Now it will be smooth sailing!

Wait a minute, ema. He was devasted when you mentioned canceling it…yet forgot to invite the out of towners? I think it’s not that important to him after all. He’s got to be noticing your illness and your stress, if not, fill him in!

Why not ask him to come up with another solution. Either you don’t have it, or someone else hosts, or you all just go to a local restaurant, with everyone paying their own way. If the tradition is to make the bride crazier and more stressed than she already is, this is a tradition to end!

If I was your local friend, I’d host it or be glad to pay my own way at a restaurant. Or do nothing at all.
