I have a car. To be honest, I only have one because I lived on campus over the summer while doing an internship, and I needed to commute. During a normal school week, I might drive once or twice. I never drive to class because it’s almost always more convenient to bike. It does cost around $250 for a one year parking permit.

I don’t think you’ll have much use for a car as a freshman, because the freshmen social scene is so campus oriented (perhaps as a result of the no-cars policy). Once you become an upperclassman, though, it becomes pretty useful to have a car. You’ll want to drive to Safeway, go out to eat, go on roadtrips, take friends to the airport, etc. The Marguerite is generally regarded as a headache that nobody wants to deal with due to their confusing schedules and sometimes-inconvenient routes. I’d say roughly 50% of seniors have cars.
