<p>How much is this tuner you are looking to buy? Plain ole antennas can give you HD channels too. </p>
<p>On the other hand, about ucsd not having hd content, my hdtv had a tuner built in, and I plugged in a coaxial cable into it and got hd local channels. We hadn’t even ordered hd channels but for some reason, the tv was able to scan for them through a regular ole coaxial cable.</p>
