A & F marketing campaign to only "the cool" kids

Ross stores are really sad places compared to TJMaxx - huge stores sparsely filled with no-name, cheaply made merchandise that is still expensive compared to what Target sells.

I do not give a rat’s behind about what A&F stock is doing. I’d like to see it go down a bit - just enough to send the BOD a message that it is time for a good cleaning of the house. I would hate to see a few gaping holes in the malls around here, so I hope the BOD gets involved and kicks the CEO out while bringing in someone smart enough to restructure the way the co does its business.

How exactly does A & F keep their clothing line off of poor people? In my experience, the more expensive clothing lines tend to fill the racks at resale shops, because less affluent people wear their clothes until they begin to fall apart.

So does A & F hire people to buy their resale clothing and burn it?

Normally, the poor tend to buy the cheaper shirts (graphics) while the rich tend to be able to afford the blouses and dresses.

I work at an A&F store and it’s obvious that they cater to pretty and skinny people. God forbidden, I gain 15 pounds! I probably would be schedules less or not at all.

BB, I’ve found Ross stores to be very regional as to their quality. There are two in my town, one is always filled with absolute garbage, while the other tends to have reasonably nice stuff for decent prices. I’ve found they’re a great place for kitchen gadgets, as well as shopping at the end of the season for pants and exercise-style clothes. The TJ Maxx near me has relatively high prices, in comparison.

If stock price continues to decline and quarterly earnings are below expectations , it is only a matter of time before the CEO “resigns”. Can he turn this marketing strategy around? It would take a lot. But maybe in the end, if successful, it could result in a positive message. Time will tell.

Also not familiar with Ross stores.
