Well, I think this is how it works…If you’ve applied to several schools, you’ve noticed that some are super EZ, while some are tedious. So, people are suggesting what they know from first hand experience.

The University of Alabama - super EZ app. I think it takes 5-10 minutes. Admissions process is formula - if you have the test scores, GPA, and college prep curriculum, you’ll be accepted. IF you want a scholarship, too, that app must also be filled out, but that’s super EZ, too - no essays, no recs…also formula driven. All must be done by Dec 1.

Alabama has 4 honors programs in its Honors College - 2 programs are very competitive (avg ACT 33). For info, visit the Honors college website. The Honors College website may be down for changes, so check back.

Alabama is located in Tuscaloosa (aka T-Town) which is a nice college town with lots of new restaurants, shops, hotels, etc. There is a large typical indoor mall, but recently a gorgeous new “lifestyle” outdoor mall has been built.

How is it that Univ. of Alabama offers all this “free” tuition? I mean, it’s a state-supported school like Univ. of Texas, right? It really sounds like an amazing deal. If they had men’s soccer, we might consider it; S also plays varsity football, but I’m not sure he’s big enough for the Crimson Tide. Great thread; thanks moms.
