I currently attend Brandeis. Physics definitely is popular, especially among my group of friends (I am in the Math dept which is lower regarded, and I’m considering switching). As the poster above said, our departments in general are not application based and are theoretical. Some like it, some don’t. Regardless, employers realize the level of critical thinking needed to pass through the physics major. So you probably won’t get employed for your knowledge (if you go out of the physics/engineering field), but more for your adeptness.

Good luck!
