<p>Yes, it’s important to stress to our kids that it’s the APPLICATION that is accepted or denied, not the actual person. Also, even though the term “rejected” seems to be commonly used by the kids, I’d love to see more use of the term “denied”. For the denied and disappointed applicant, it’s a short walk from “rejected” to “reject”. Rather than “she was rejected”, I’d rather hear, “her application was denied”. The process can easily diminish kids who have truly amazing stats and accomplishments. </p>
