That French bird is an “ortolan” (remember Gigi?). Think it’s illegal to serve now.
But they still serve “tete de veau,” “boudin noir” and that old standby, horsemeat. Not to mention lots and lots of cheese. Don’t mind the mild ones, but I refuse to eat it if I can smell it through the closed refrigerator door! Tongue and brains aren’t so bad.

Yes I do remember that scene in Gigi. “Just chew up their bones, and don’t talk with your mouth full, but answer my questions.” Now that’s college! Aunt Alicia had it all. A real Socrates.

That bird question reminded me of “4 and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie” - which also does not appeal to me.

Greydad - I watched House, too, but atleast I came in and refreshed the screen during ads. Hope you’re not planning to use this as a hook - your lack of passion shows.

I have a delicious tofu recipe, with ground pork and lots of garlic and other spices. I suppose it’s no longer healthy at that point, but it does taste good.

I bet none of you have eaten camel. I have. Nyah, nyah!

I’ve also eaten tongue it was a regular on the dinner menu the year I lived in France. Sliced on the plate it was fine, but I tried not to look at it boiling in the kitchen pot.

Latest TV obsession is ANTM (America’s Next Top Model) (we have a habit of catching up on shows on DVD or downloads to avoid commercials, so now we’re up to the latest season) (it’s okay, guys. I’m a photographer. There’s learning happening.)

In the middle of this one: They’re wearing meat carcasses. Yes. From the meat locker. Carcasses hanging by hooks, then cut up to make clothes. Raw. Raw meat worn on skin.

GreyDad I love ANTM. I am not a photographer so I can’t claim anything beyond guilty peleasure as the reason for my viewing. But I do think it has taught me about the life of a model…not so pretty.

On another note back when I was a good mom who made her children’s school lunches I had a brief period of organization. I made all of my kids sandwiches on Sunday and froze them for the week… Your mom and I have something in common.

Tongue w/ plum sauce is still one of my favorites and my mom tried to pass powdered milk off on us at the end of every month when the money ran out. echhhhh

My grandfather would pluck two potatoes out of the fire every morning before school. He’d keep them in his pockets as he walked to school as hand warmers then eat them for lunch. My great grand mum was nothing if not efficient.

This thread is obviously about the legacy of eating weird things as the hook to get into HPYS or T.I.T.S. I am just not sure if it is Pathway A or B.
