A Plebe Year in Review : Parent

Oh you guys! I swear I didn’t mean it that way. That “hole in the ground” thing. My beloved family member meant that there was no monument in place yet to go visit, & she being a New Yorker, finds it very sad that they are still bickering about it & nothing has been done these many years later. I promise I meant no disrespect. Yikes. Never would I. She just said it was a big hole in the ground and that its upsetting to go there. Its empty. Its cold. Its sacred. I do hope that someday, if I can bring myself to go back there, that there is something so honorable in place for their remembrance, that it will do them all justice. It’ll be a hard job to do that I think. Anyhow, I did not mean to belittle the site. I promise.

Per Zaph’s question, knock on some serious wood. Never gotten one of those calls.

Z- the hardest part is doing — nothing. Other than giving moral support on the phone, sending notes, emails and “boodle” in support, realizing that he is on his own and has to figure it out himself. We can’t help him with diffential equations, regimental politics or training runs. Thus, the larger quantities of merlot or bourbon being consumed in our household. That and going online here and finding other loving, but obsessive parents…

LOL!

Having gone through the place myself, I think I’d be catatonic for four years, living through their eyes.

You’re thoughtful to ask the question Zap. Mine hasn’t threatened to come home (yet) but he’s wanted to kill people. Ya gotta just let them rant & rave over the phone, then you hang up & go “Wheew” that was ugly and then you go knock the dust off the tv or water flowers. Then wait for 5pm to do Merlot or martinis. Then ya get on here and see who is saying what, like Weski said. Then ya go on with your day. Therapy for academy parents.

LOL!

Wait until he gets to Corporate America! ;)

When he gets out in the real world, I’ll have to take away the Plebe knife I’m afraid. He used to play so nice… Now its just livin’ on the edge. LOL Maybe hiking down the mountain and foraging for food will help put things back into perspective. Mebee.
