buenavista: Thank you for taking the time to update us. So so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband.
I noticed that you hadn’t joined our last discussions and am happy to see that you’ll be reading Seveneves. Re your other book group: I read Americanah - I think you’ll like it.
Take care.
I picked up Seveneves from the library yesterday. I’m over 80 pages in and hooked
Of late, I have finished a few books including, most recently, Disclaimer, a quickie psychological thriller, and some non-fiction nature/science books. My favorites have been The Forest Unseen by David George Haskell; and diary of a citizen scientist; chasing tiger beetles and other new ways of engaging the world by Sharman Apt Russell. In the latter title, Russell, a writing professor, writes of her own research on a tiger beetle species while outlining her personal thoughts on citizen science and life in general. Interesting, insightful, and funny at times.
I’m listening to Elizabeth Berg’s historical fiction book about George Sand, The Dream Lover; and finished listening to Kate Atkinson’s sequel to Life After Life, A God in Ruins.
As always, my “to read” pile is huge, but I’m clearing the table for Seveneves!
^ Thanks for the good word on Seveneves, PlantMom. I started a new thread. We may want to check in now and then to report on our progress (spoiler-free of course)!
Ooh, glad you are liking Seveneves, PlantMom.
I am racing through my current book (90 pages to go out of 400, and I still can’t figure out why people have reported liking it so much) to clear the decks for the exploding moon!
I just realized today that Seveneves was on the best seller list for a while.
Thank you all for the kind words and condolences. This is the best book group ever, and I missed being a part of it! I did indeed like Americanah, ignatius. Hope to get through Seveneves in time for August. Happy summer to all.
