A tiny rant about "Cali" directed at noone on this board in particular but included to be helpful

Peeved me that “back east” includes Ohio. I’ve heard people in California refer to Colorado as the east, without meaning the geo direction, lol. Many of us from the east think of the 13 colonies (more lol.)

CO seems to be near the middle of the US, not very East IMHO.

Dunno. Some of us in the east think of CO as, well, west. As in ‘out west.’

Saw a “Cali” sweatshirt during our recent visit to LA area. Because it was displayed in the window of a shop in Venice Beach, I wrote it off as another freak item… OMG, Venice Beach. Whoever recommended it to us as an “artsy community” needs their head examined. It is a freak show on steroids and pot, and restaurants there serve listeria. Never again.

Bunsen: You didn’t like “our” Venice beach? When our kids were little we took them there. No problem with the food. Restaurant was fine. We left and…yeah…they had to go to the bathroom. We went into a public bathroom. Totally open and dirty. We went back to the restaurant and used their bathroom. Some how we haven’t gone back.

I used to live on Venice beach, by Venice Pier. Even had roller skates. No complaints. But that was before some changes. Well, I used to refer to where we were as the one safe corner, as we were across the street from Marina del Rey. Fond memories.

I love CA… I can live in the gardens of Huntington Library! But the crowds, pot and cheap crap peddlers, and food poisoning in VB - nope.

I get crap all the time from my hubby’s family (NorCal) because I (SoCal) refer to hwys with “the” in front of them.
I give equal measure back with the NorCal propensity for "hekka and hella " which nobody in SoCal would be caught dead saying…

Re: 186, Philadelphians being both lazy and impatient:

“Hurry up and get me some chips, and the remote! And a pillow!”

Sounds like something Paulie, from the Rocky movies, might say.

@tonymom I’m with ya! My DH is from NorCal, and I’m from SoCal. Hecka and Hella are so lame! And when I lived in the Bay Area I always referred to the fwys as THE 580, THE 680, THE 880. It’s second nature!
