A Tough Year

<p>This article appeared in the April 4th NY Times. It is written about the Ivies and mentions some LACs, but the numbers game applies to all top tier schools. </p>

<p>A friend who was rejected from NU called to see why she was rejected (a very nice offer on the part of the university, I must say). An admissions officer told her that she had “no red marks” on her application, indicating that there just weren’t enough spots for all of the qualified applicants. </p>

<p>This explains why a lot of very qualified applicants were turned away. It must have been tough for the adcom this year. I’ve heard next year will be the worst yet in terms of sheer #s of applicants in the pool.</p>
