nysmile, I missed the President’s speech but will find it online later. I look forward to hearing the reference to Jordan since I followed your previous posts about the tragedy.
Again, condolences.

I’ve been trying to find a video link but without much success. I did find the printed version of his speech and posted the link above. I was so surprised! By chance, I turned on the TV at midspeech and when I heard the President begin telling the story of 2 young marines, I knew exactly who he was talking about even before he mentioned the names. As soon as the speech was over, I called my college son (Jordan was one of his best friends) to tell him that Pres. Obama mentioned Jordan during today’s speech. He was so excited. Son and Jordan always talked about their purpose and how they would go about serving the country. Their plans included making a positive difference in the world. I’m sure that Jordan’s spirit will always be a source of strength and inspiration for S.

I hope Jordan’s mom was watching the speech.

I found the link–hooray. It’s towards the end of the speech.

from CBS news. Amazing. Shows the bravery of these two men in the last few seconds of their lives.

The Navy Cross. wow. hooyah to Jordan.
nysmile - hugs to your son, if he has half the courage of Jordan (and I am sure he does!) he will go far in life.
As a mom, I simply cannot imagine the pain and agony of Jordan’s mom and dad. I hope your son doesn’t forget them.

Thanks for reminding us that most of the “crises of the moment” that our 19 year old college students bring to us are indeed, trivial.

Thanks JustAMomOf4.

Thanks so much nysmile for the updates and links. How wonderful for Jordan’s family. A young man to be forever proud of. I can tell from your postings, how much Jordan meant to your son and your family. Thank you for keeping Jordan’s spirit alive.

There are no words.

Thank you for posting the links.
My heart is aching for all the families who have lost loved ones.

We lost another one. How many more? Bring them all home. Take the billions of dollars we’re spending over there and sink it into our own country. IMO–it’s time to shift from offense in the middle east to strong defense within our own country.

May his family find some peace as they mourn the loss of their son.
