A UChicago kid visiting Northwestern! *gasp*

The Bahai temple is walkable from NU campus, but NOT at this time of year! It’s a good long walk - I’m guessing 45 minutes to an hour. My boyfriend (now husband) and I would walk up there, but we’d make a half day out of it and stop at Plaza del Lago in Wilmette.

If you have a map, this will make sense: I would start at the Arch (where Sheridan Road curves, across from the Alice Millar church) and walk “into” the campus … Past Harris Hall, University Hall, Annie May Swift, that whole area … Walk all the way up to Norris (student center) where you could take a break, get a bite to eat, etc. Norris is your gateway to the lakefront. Obviously not with this cold, but if it were nicer out, it’s a really gorgeous stroll and you could walk along the lakefront all the way up north.

Take a look at Deering Meadow and the old section of the library. The library itself is neo-Brutalist and I don’t think very attractive at all.

You could keep making your way up north and go to the fraternity quads and look at the old houses there, or alternatively retrace your steps, cross Sheridan Road again and go into the Scott Hall / Cahn Auditorium / sorority quad area, all the way up to Willard Hall and then back.

A current student could advise you better on what to do on the campus these days.

Have fun!
