At the end of the day why TJ did what it did or the impact it may or may not have had, engaged parents who are looking for an edge to get their kids into elite colleges may choose not to send their kids to this school. The fact that this school attracted the best and brightest contributed to its very good success with elite colleges. If the school continues down it’s current path, the best and brightest will seek greener pastures where their academic success is valued. TJ will become another good magnet school but will lose its luster and it’s success in placing kids in elite schools will fade. Good, bad or indifferent motivated parents with means will move on. Attempts to seek to sink high rising boats in order to claim all boats are rising won’t work. The high rising boats don’t have to sail in the TJ pond.
