A week in Seattle. What to do?

You can also rent canoes or rowboats from the University of Washington waterfront activities center.

<a href=“Canoe & Kayak Rentals | Recreation”>http://www.washington.edu/ima/wac/canoe-boat-rentals/

Oh yes, and paddle through the arboretum on the other side of the Montlake cut.

Or if paddling a canoe or a kayak is not your cup of tea, you can park in the parking lot by the MOHAI, which used to be free, and walk along the shore on a boardwalk/ trails all the way to the Arboretum! It is a pretty scenic walk.

old MOHAI that is . . .

Go to the new MOHAI and ride the S.L.U.T.?

Well, we arrived at 11 and took the light rail into town where D was waiting at the University station. It was an enjoyable ride and we had place to put the luggages on the rail. The train is narrower then we expected.

Belltown inn is directly across the street from D’s apartment, so it is really great. The room is kind of small and pink! Anyway we settled down.

Afternoon was just walk around the market and the Space Needle, we did not get on top but just walked around it. There was a concert going on, so we could not get to the other side. At 5:30 we got on the last Duck tour of the day and it was fun. The driver took us to the Lake union but did not show us where is the " House" I guess for a good reason. The most impressive part of the tour is that every corner of the street there is a Starbucks.

And often there is also one mid-block! ;)

Only one?

The house?
If you mean the Gates mansion, that is on Lake Washington.
You can see where it is from the 520 bridge, but since they had mature evergreens installed, you need to be closer to the shoreline for a better look.
This weekend, the Seattle Center have been taken over by Bumbershoot, a yearly festival.
Today is the last day.

http://bumbershoot.org

Could also mean the Sleepless in Seattle house which used to be a big draw

Didn’t think of that, I don’t think I ever saw it.
Iv’e seen the houseboat though, I didn’t know it was famous!

If you are looking for a mellow spot, just a nice walk around, you can walk the docks at Fisherman’s Terminal at South Lake Union.

I meant the houseboat . . .

Did you look at the mega yacht?
It stopped here to gas up.
$500,000 to fill the tank.

I saw some thing similar to that in Lake Union but not sure if it was that one.

We took the bus from Westlake in the tunnel to Bellvue to have lunch at the famous Din Tai Fun in the Lincoln center. We had to wait 1 hour+ to get in. En route, tried to find the “Mansion” obviously could not see it.

Afternoon was an easy walk in the Olympic park the view of the Sound is breath taking. We ended the day with having a dinner in Toulouse Petite. It was a great Labor Day.

How did you like Toulouse? It’s not in our budget to go often, but it’s one of our favorite places to eat. I would kill for the shrimp and grits.

I hadnt heard of Din Tai Fun, but I like dumplings.
I see they also have one in UVillage.
Haven’t heard of Toulouse either. Is it Cajun? We used to go to Le Bon Ton Roule, which switched to Mexican for some reason, then it closed.
( we hardly ever leave Ballard, although we did go out for dim sum with D, her BF & his parents last week)

Funny you mentioned the shrimp and grits, DW ordered that and we ended up licking the plate. We were forewarned not to go for the pre fix as it will be too much food. Their portions were large and the bad thing was over eaten. I ordered the crab salad and the “Tolouse” pasta and the was a lot.

Tin Tai Fun is world famous Shanghainese dumpling place originated from Taiwan. The dumplings are fresh made to order in an assembly line right in front of your eyes. They are known for quality consistency and thin crust. After we got to Bellevue then we found out they have another store on the 46th.

Oohhh. You should have gone to the one in the U Village! It is less crowded, IMO.

First Thursday of each month many of the museums are free - BUT - yes, capitalized because its important - if you want to do the Pioneer Square Art Walk it has been moved to Friday this week so as not to interfere with the NFL kickoff. Go Seahawks.
