AAJA JCamp 2014

@FidelityB congratulations!! nothing for me yet. would you mind sharing what your application was like?

I had a really amazing rec from a teacher who is amazing herself and very supportive, whose taught me pretty much everything.I think that really helped me stand out.

My essays were about meeting Malala because I’ve been inspired by her throughout my work with the UN’s Girl Up program. For why I wanted to go, I talked about bringing what I learned back to my publication as a news editor. I threw in that I had won a national journalism award and am on School Journalism’s advisory board.

GOOD LUCK!!! I really hope you get in!

are the acceptances scattered or do they all come out at once?

@b0902206 I don’t think we have scores on our applications this year, since we can’t view our applications anymore (at least I don’t know any way of doing so)

I just got my acceptance email this afternoon. Super excited!

@LikeThis CONGRATS! So excited to me you!

I applied as well but I didn’t get anything yet… Congrats to everyone that’s gotten acceptances so far!

No e-mail, so looks like I’m rejected. I’m sure they sent out acceptances all at once; doesn’t really make sense to stagger them, especially if in earlier threads, they sent out rejection e-mails later. Don’t hold your breath waiting, anyone.

Glad I applied to multiple journalism programs, but I’m not betting on any of them. Great job to everyone who got in!

I called today and JCAMP said that they aren’t done sending out acceptances. They said they everyone should hear by mid-April. So we still have a chance!

Huh, wow, that’s good. I guess it’s sorta like rolling admissions, even though they didn’t start sending out acceptances until after the deadline…glad there’s still a chance for us!

I’m still scared to get my hopes up haha. Btw, @CE527M, please keep me posted on how you fare with your other camps! I’d like to know how you do >:D<

Ha, I was actually rejected from the other one I applied to today, @pmmywest. Hearing about how acceptances are still being sent out for this one helps to take the sting away from the rejection.

Hi everyone! Sorry for the late response haha but Congrats to everyone who got in, I was lucky enough to get accepted and I’m so stoked to meet all of you! We should all add each other on Facebook or something and start a group, I’m so excited! I’m alexanna Nathan on Facebook I’m pretty sure!

@CE527M damn I’m sorry to hear that. I know how it feels, I went through the same thing with TASP.

@pmmywest Thanks, it kinda made me a little mad for a few minutes, like “How could they reject me?!” even though I’m sure hundreds applied and there were some who were better than me. But now I’m just glad they’re not done sending out acceptances for this…we’ve still got a shot!

@CE527M Same here. I just keep thinking- if I can’t get into a summer program, how am I going to get into my dream college with an acceptance rate of less than 10%??

hi everyone! i applied as well, so best of luck to you all and congrats to those who got in. [:

accepted. pretty lucky, considering i had no prior experience and i didn’t submit a video

@genome123 do you know what made you stand out? Your writing samples? Your essays?

Question for y’all: the work samples I submitted were not my best, but I just finished a really great spread for my school’s newspaper. Would it be worth it to send it in this late in the process? I haven’t heard anything yet besides the “we got your application” email.
