AB Duke vs. Harvard

<a href=“Duke Mag”>Duke Mag;

Keep in mind that this was from nearly 10 years ago, and Duke’s reputation has gone up since then.

thx for your input my good doctor

The most intelligent student I’ve ever met turned down Harvard for the Wells Scholarship at Indiana University, which is similar to AB Duke (full ride, study abroad, honors college). One of my classmates is turning down Stanford for the Wells scholarship. Duke>IU, so choosing Duke over Harvard is a no brainer, IMO.

Also, if you’re considering medicine or any other field where grad school is necessary or likely, the name on your undergrad diploma becomes far less important than where you went to grad school. Coming out of Duke, you will have the same grad school opportunities you would at Harvard.

Either way, though, you will get a great education. Be very pleased that you are in the position to make this choice.

Everyone, thanks so much for your input… you guys helped me organize my thoughts and keep my mind clear.

I’m going to Duke, and I officially sent in my letter to them today accepting the AB. Apparently, this wasn’t news to anybody at my school except myself though, haha. I honestly couldn’t be any happier right now. :)

good call, congrats

Congrats, you won’t regret it!

Congratulations and good luck!

Congrats tinam!!! You’re going to love it!!! :)

Bump

I would like to see how people would answer this question now, four years later, because I’m in the exact same position (I apologize for the necro here)

Post this in the Duke and Harvard specific forum with some details about what you’re looking to study and the type of college environment you want.

I personally think the AB Duke is the most prestigious academic honor that an undergraduate can receive in the world.;)

Duke without a doubt
