<p>The only mixed feeling I have about this is that there are so, so many horses out there who desperately need jobs- or they will die. Is death worse - maybe. The racing industry is shrinking and more and more horses are going to slaughter, or just starving to death in a field somewhere.</p>

But, creating an act that will use four horses at the most, it takes long time to train.
Do we start shooting people out of canons? If your community decided to define itself with this Carnival- side show act of abuse how would you feel? Would you take your children to see this act, because in this day and age, I don’t think families will buy tickets for a 15 minute act culminating with horse dive. Would you spend almost $40 for family of four. It is another MISGUIDED, decision in AC, just as the upscale Ocean One Mall-with Gucci, Coach ect. no market for that here in Atlantic City.</p>

The diving horse is planned as the finale to a 15- to 20-minute show at an indoor amphitheater at the pier — likely with four shows on weekdays and six on weekends. Three or four other acts, including acrobats, will go on before the horse; none of the other acts includes animals.** There will be an admission fee of less than $10 for the show**, though the exact price has yet to be determined.</p>

<p>I wouldn’t go see the show, but I won’t go to the track either. There isn’t any business that is more cruel to horses - except for the small percentage that make money and are treated very well. I think cross country jumping is cruel too. I have seen cruel hunter/jumper trainers. Horses are treated cruelly across many industries and in many backyards. I signed the petition against this but it’s hard for me to get too worked up about it when I think about how many horses will break down on racetracks this year.</p>
<p>What a Valentine’s Day gift! The Catanoso’s have backed down and have changed their minds about the Diving Horse Act. It’s not going to happen! The petition with now 49,000 signatures, the planned appearance at the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority meeting (they told me they were expect large crowd due to the number of phone calls they were getting), combined to have this effect.
For those of you who participated, who signed and shared the petition, I can’t thank you enough.
I was prepared to be protesting in the hot, sun on the boardwalk, this summer. Boy, am I glad that won’t be happening. </p>

You can’t imagine the radio talk show hosts and callers in the area --who are so livid the “animal rights” people won.
They don’t understand the support went WAY beyond “animal rights” people, it included everyone.</p>
