Isn’t this how most pre-reads work?
I would hope so!
I thought OP seemed surprised that materials were sent to admissions.
Just wanted to confirm that is the procedure at Vassar.
Also did a pre read at Vassar- a lot later than other LACs in terms of calendar. Coach collected and reviewed admissions materials a couple months ago but then recently was able to formally send them to admissions in early/mid August. Takes a couple weeks I guess for results
pre read followup discussions still going on at places like Williams, Amherst, W&L etc - there are a number of sports still actively recruiting that will not be near finished until late in September. Stay patient! the process usually works
I’m not surprised, they just clearly didn’t go to admissions right away, or else admissions at Vassar takes their sweet time. I had assumed the materials we sent would go to admissions and we’d get a response from them, but the response in July was clearly just from the coach. That’s when I wondered if they just didn’t do formal pre-reads with admissions. Then last week the coach texted and asked to chat on the phone, and that’s when she said the results from admissions came back very positive.
It seems that others who have done recruiting at Vassar are experiencing the same timeline.
Thank you for this - there’s so much talk about NESCAC and Ivy recruiting and I was wondering if other schools just work on their own timeline. Apparently so!
