<p>According to the “Chat” for Parents, students will receive notice from American between March 15-April 1. The admissions guy made it seem like they would be staggering the letters, not all mailed on the same day. It seemed like he was indicating that with an enlarged applicant pool this year, they were going to “hedge their bets” a bit. </p>
<p>I took this to MAYBE mean that they would be sending out the “Definate-YES!” pile early, and probably the “Definate-NO!” pile as well, and then get a sense of the yeild while they send out the “Middle-yes”, “Maybe-Yes”, and the “Waitlist” later. (in other words, a list of students is probably on the middle line that will get accepted/rejected april 1, based on what % commitment they see from the earlier results). This is a guess to the motive however.</p>
<p>Short answer: March 15-April 1.</p>
