Very first time posting.

We learned this evening that our daughter was accepted to Temple, with a $17,000 annual academic scholarship. Still waiting, of course, to hear on the Boyer acceptance aspect re: their vocal program.

Congrats, typically when you get that ‘provost’ or whatever scholarship, you also often are invited to ‘honors college’ or honors program and get Special dorms and same courses, but smaller classes and first choice. It really sounds great. My friend in Philly say area not so bad. Especially great jazz program which daughter applying to. I think provost goes from 10-20, but apparently can get music merit additionally.

Crabby daughter Trombone

  1. Temple Honors Provost Scholarship 20/yr (will not audition)
  2. Today Awarded 25k new school scholarship for performance at Mingus Festival if she should attend the New School
  3. Last week decided to do ED 2 NYU and got in so our journey is over (no official audition, but played with band and trombone teacher 2 weeks ago). Pulling other applications now.

I was a bit reluctant because I wanted to visit other schools with her, also because it makes her leaving to college more imminent. Thank you so much for all your support and company on this journey!

We are still in the midst of audition season, but acceptances are trickling in. I’ll keep updating as they are received. Then we all get to wait for merit info. The fun never ends! I’ve heard rumors that some schools are pushing decision day from May 1 to May 15 since they are so late getting FAFSA info and it’s taking a while to compile financial packages. Don’t know if there is any truth to that, but something to think about if it seems like the waiting is ever-increasing.

I saw your daughter play at Mingus, and told my wife that after her performances she could walk into any music school in the country. She was amazing and clearly had the respect of her fellow performers.
My son '25 plays drums in one of the other JLC groups every Sunday and says that he enjoys his time with her at “jazz language”. Congrats to her on NYU, it’s my son’s first choice after doing the two week camp there last summer. Maybe they’ll be playing together for the Daves in a couple of years. Congrats again, you I’m sure are very proud.
