In Feb. we went over to Folly Beach to check it out - it’s a pretty short drive to a cute little beach town with public access. I considered that a big plus , depends on how much you like the beach.
Of course I don’t think you can beat Charleston as far as a great college town! Tons of shops, restaurants, and bars within walking distance of the campus. I also hear the Art festivals are great. Quaint beautiful campus with some nice Southern traditions. Weather was quite hot in August , but really nice in Feb.
One drawback we saw was that we could not find any cheap flights from Charleston so travel home would be pretty pricey. I guess the airport does not have great connections.</p>
