Accepted, but Never Visited Campus (Deciding between NU, Chicago, & Amherst)

Go to Northwestern.

You’ll definitely get the best education here. :)

Is it feasible to be in the Kaplan Scholars Program and the Integrated Science Program? I will definitely be doing ISP, but the Kaplan Program also sounds extremely interesting.

Not sure on the one- if you intend to take language courses in fall or winter, likely not, but otherwise it could work if the classes themselves don’t conflict. I reccomend you ask both programs about it.

So, would it be possible to do this?

-Into Biology or Intro Chemistry
-Theatre Class
-Intro Italian or Intro French
-A Writing Intensive Freshman seminar

I talked to my mom about this situation (after haphazardly picking Chicago over NU and Amherst yesterday) and she pretty much said that Chicago is not for me. She really thinks that NU or Amherst would be better options and I am looking more into both. Plus NU has a stellar theatre dept. (NYU Tisch was my top choice; I got in, but can’t afford it, so NU does seem like the best option.) Would that schedule work as a good way to start completing the majors and requirements?

Yes- that would be a roughly standard freshman course schedule.

Though I don’t know how taking theater classes from Weinberg works.

^i think the OP was admitted to the theater program.

Yea, I was admitted to SoC for theatre.

You need to apply to get into the Freshman Seminars then, but you could definitely work something like that out. Again, I suggest you contact someone in the departments you’re interested in and see if they know- most of the department assistants are very friendly.

A friend of mine, for instance, was in Modes of Writing, his Acting sequence, Japanese, and a class on Kafka (I think that’s what it was, standing in here for your bio or chem) in a quarter of his freshman year.

Update: After days and days of pondering, I have decided to attend Northwestern next year! I am very happy with my choice and look forward to becoming a proud Wildcat! Thank you all for all of your help and quick responses to my questions. You all really did faciliate my decision making process when it came to class selection and making sure that I can do what it is I want to do during undergrad at a school with such an amazing theatre program!

AmbitiousMind07—I am so happy for you! Go Wildcats!

Good choice! I looked at Chicago, but the fact that it’s nickname is “Where Fun Goes to DIE” was enough to drive me away…
