Accepted!!!!!!! Fall 2011 :)

Got accepted today! (Fall 2011)

UW GPA: 3.5
W GPA: 4.0
ACT: 27
In state
some community service, no recommendations, okay essay

A decision has been deferred pending receipt of your semester grades from high school.

Not surprised with my stats, should have applied for summer. Oh well. So do I submit my 1st semester grades when I get them? I’m taking AP classes and doing very well.

My defer today read the same as yours: “A decision has been deferred pending receipt of your semester grades from high school.”

I am not surprised, quite frankly just happy I still have a shot. This semester I’m taking 4 APs and 1 Honors, so far 3 A’s and 2 B’s the first 9 weeks, so I’m hoping my semester grades in January will be enough to turn the Defer into an Accept!

Stats:
UW 2.95
W 3.09 as recalc’d by UCF (I know!)
SAT 1170/1790
ACT 26
Good essay, recs, tons of ECs such as Varsity Tennis, Jazz Band, etc.

I’ll be back to checking every single day once I send my semester grades in in January! Woo hoo!

Accepted!

4.56 Weighted GPA
4.00 Unweighted GPA
35 ACT
3 AP’s–AP Gov (5) APUSH (5) AP Eng. Lang (5)
National Merit Semifinalist

I’m an out of state student (Illinois) who is considering attending UCF under the National Merit Scholarship Program. I would love to chat with other out-of-state students and/or other potential NMS about their impression of UCF.

Don’t be hopeless, people. You don’t need a crapload of AP/honor classes or ridiculous amounts of extracurricular activities in order to be accepted. It’s not Harvard.

^^I thought that was true, but this is UCFs most competitive year ever :(…good thing I already got in<3

It gets more competitive every year…

So am kinda frecking out because I am reading that alot of ppl got there acceptance letters already. I am transfering from a college on Long Island, NY. I applied in August and havent heard anything so far…does that mean there not picking me???

@Vimp
It doesn’t mean that they’re not picking you. The way it works is that people with high stats tend to get acceptance 3-5 days after handing everything in and people with lower to sub par stats get a reply 3-6 weeks after. It simply is the timing of the submission of your application as well as your stats. If you applied prior to November its easier to get in because the application pool isn’t as large as late November-March/April when its DEAD HARD to get into UCF.

But please keep us posted!

@Vimp

Lastly, check your myUCF status and see what it says!!!

Don’t forget to clear up anything that’s listed on your to-do list.

And Kervin, you really don’t need a lot of AP’s or extracurricular. AP’s and honor classes are a must, but a few here and there would sustain. As for extracurricular, you really can BS it on the application (I’m not saying anyone should) and I don’t think they have the time or desire to check if it’s legit, so I’d think they wouldn’t put much weight on that. It’s a large school with a lot of applicants, they have to look at scores more than anything.

^^^ True my counselor said that I probably got in because I’m well rounded with a little bit of everything and not just stacked on academics or scores or even ECs!

This is off topic but if you bring a car, be careful. I recently got a ticket that costs almost 300 bucks and 4 hours of my life (traffic school). It wasn’t even something major. I just didn’t come to a full stop before making a right turn at the red light. I thought I could yield and go if there were no cars around. Apparently there weren’t any cars but a cop behind me -- Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Cops are ridiculous around here. And they had their headlights on while making me stand in front of the car like I committed some major crime. They thought I had alcohol when my friends and I were just coming back from Walmart to buy some milk -- But yea, look out for the cops D:

@gunslinger12 okay so it still says it pending on myUCF portal thing, but i kno it a holiday so hopefully i will hear something in the next few weeks! i will post want ever happens, but thank you that made me feel a little less nervous :)

So UCF finally received my SAT scores last Tuesday night, and I found out today that …
I GOT ACCEPTED FOR THE FALL 2011 TERM!!!

Earlier this month I expressed concern regarding whether or not I would get in! ([My older post](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-central-florida/998988-accepted-fall-2011-a-7.html#post1065828320) from this thread.)

UCF is my number one!
GO KNIGHTS!

What were your scores?

When do they start accepting or declining transfer students? My DD applied in August for Fall 2011, and has a great GPA and a good resume. Her high school stats were not required, but she sent them anyway and had an ACT of 29 and a 3.8 GPA. Does anyone know how long they make transfers wait for a decision?

I haven’t applied yet, UCF isn’t a top choice for me but one of my back ups. When do you think the latest I should be applying is?
