Accepted Student Phone Calls

this makes me nervous…

question:
do international students get a phone call as well? i’m an american citizen…but i go to school in india. what to do???
thanks!

DCforMe: what if my son isn’t home? He volunteers as an EMT on Mondays.

AnOnmity: “I had things missing from my application including the Part II but wasn’t notified until the first week of March.”…But my son didn’t have anything missing from his application. In fact, he had verification that it went through on 12/26. Did you ever hear if they got everything? My son never did. As a result, I’m thinking rejection.

Sadly, this happened to my brother too, 37 years ago. No computers then, of course, but somehow they never got his application!

limabeans: usually we leave a message - on the machine if no one answers, or with whoever answers the phone. If you yourself have any questions you’d like to ask on his behalf, feel free to pick-up, but otherwise you’ll get an e-mail address and a phone number he can call back with any questions.

Side note: if you do call back, actually have some questions for current students. Otherwise it can quickly turn into a boring, confusing, and fruitless conversation.

So, if you haven’t received the mail yet and end up not receiving the call during the time allotted for your time zone, that’s basically an answer in itself, right?

^ I don’t think so. I was (very unexpectedly) accepted today, and I live in MA and didn’t get a phone call tonight.

Okay, just so everyone knows, there’s a LOT of RD students. We did not get to even everyone on the East Cost tonight. The people running this are usually pretty adamant about moving from East to West (following the letters), so I would honestly not be surprised if we never made it to the West Coast (sorry! there’s just so many RD students, and there’s only so many of us.) But yes, if you didn’t receive a call, it is definitely NOT a decision itself. Now, if you’re on the Eastern Seaboard, your last name is early in the alphabet, and you still haven’t heard by tomorrow, then you might have some grounds to jump to conclusions.

@Ginger2222: it turns out the admissions office was aware of this (Passover). For students who put Jewish on religious affiliation in the application, we were told to circle them, not call them, and we’ll get back to them another night.

so you could say you “passover” them ;)

btw- are you going alphabetically? I got accepted and didnt receive a phone call yet

“Louis” from Georgetown just called, 7:23 Eastern. (in NJ) He congratulated my son and invited him to the accepted student days. Nice touch. Our caller ID lit up; Georgetown. "Wait, I’ll answer that!
