I’ll look into bipolar more and see a psychiatrist about it. I hadn’t really considered anything else very seriously since the ADD description fit me so well and because of the diagnostic test. My dad and younger brother have been diagnosed with severe ADHD so it just made more sense. I’m “high” and “gogogo” most of the time, but when I get depressed, it’s severe to the point of suicidal thoughts. I’ve noticed though that when that happens, it’s always a few days before my period and normally triggered by my mom whose asian and can be verbally abusive at times. This makes me think it isn’t really depression, just hormones. I do have an all or nothing type personality. I can be OCD/hyperfocused. I read that many ADD’ers have both characteristics though. Both the original psychiatrist and neurologist I went to said they do occasionally get students who have developed coping mechanisms to perform well in school despite ADD, and that these students are often diagnosed late because of it. Just to let ya’ll know that that does happen sometimes. Thanks for mentioning that though, I’ll look into it more.
