Admission for Transfer Student

I would understand that if they hadn’t made a decision yet, but they have. Why would it take them so long to mail me a letter?

Inter89 call this guy he can tell you today thats how I found out. Call that number below and ask for Jayson. Have your UIN ready to go.

Sorry to hear that blackag. You can join the group that are waiting for spring grade consideration along with me.

Ampzor at this point I don’t know. They only have room for 75 at Mays. So… I guess I’m hoping that someone decides not to go to mandatory transfer camp or chooses to go to another university. I just don’t know. Ampzor when will TAMU notify you after seeing your spring grades? I already have other universities lined up (none as prestigous as TAMU). Timing is everything.

Your right, timing is everything ecspecially for classes and housing. I checked out some apartments the other day in college station and most are almost full (if not full). My friend who was accepted to Mays just got accepted to McCombs business school so he might decline his offer for Mays. So who knows, you might get his spot if he decides to goto UT.

Im not expecting to hear until mid june or july. Im still waiting on UT so, if I hear from them sooner, Im going there. It kind of sucks because I didn’t want it to end up like this. I would rather have a definate yes from UT than an unknown answer from A&M (which could possible be no). I just dont want to wait for A&M to deny me again while already being accepted to UT for a month.

A&M has some kind of messed up admission process. I got a letter a couple of days ago saying they had just received my app and that it was under review. AIS went from step 5 to step 3 and today I got my second big acceptance packet. I wish they would have sent that second acceptance packet to someone else that is still waiting.

Sorry to hear about your denial blacklag and ampzor your gonna be an aggie.

I can tell you’ll from my last years experience for those who are still waiting. I got my decision around June 25th last year. I was accepted into Liberal Arts with a 3.45 GPA and I had 25 hours so obviously they had to look at my spring grades. I decided to decline my admission because I had a major foot injury which caused me to stay home because I couldn’t walk(it would have been so hard for me to move and adjust to college station because I was on crutches for about 3 months). So I started another year at my local community college fully determined to transfer to A&M. But this time I also decided to apply to UT because I just wanted UT as my backup. But now I am going to UT because I already heard back from them in April(got into Liberal Arts). I still haven’t heard anything from A&M yet(1st major Mays, 2nd Liberal Arts).
They also tried to rip me off with my financial aid package. My EFC last year was like around 500 and all they gave me was the pell grant which was about $4200. The rest of the money they offered me were loans. I have heard of many freshmens who are getting full rides to A&M. This again shows that A&M doesn’t really care about transfer students(I mean at least about $8k in grants would have been ok). For this year my EFC is a lot higher than last year(not gonna put exact number because of privacy reasons) because my parent’s income doubled from last year and I am getting about $11k in grants from UT (that only includes less than 1k pell grant because my EFC is really high). I understand that this year A&M has Aggie Assurance where they pay for your tuition for low income families, but still my point is that it wasn’t there last year so I wouldn’t have gotten it.

Just got off the phone with financial aid they told me the packages that we are seeing now do not include aggie assurance. The person I spoke to said aggie assurance will not be processed until July and that the requirements are adjusted gross income of less than $60,000 and gpa of 2.5 or higher. As long as those 2 requirements are met you should qualify and receive aggie assurance. If true this is some good news for me on others on this thread.

I sure hope we get Aggie assurance :stuck_out_tongue:
I just turned in my corrected FAFSA and my EFC decreased…wohoo

mcalvelloxx, how long does it take to send a transcript from ACC to UT if you go to one of the ACC campuses and request it? One of my friend took a class at ACC and he doesn’t know whether to mail in the request to ACC or just drive up there and do it. He lives like 40 minutes away from Austin.

topawala20, is he supposed to send the transcript to show spring grades?
If so, then he should send it express (making sure it would get there by the 1st) or just drive it up there. The drive is not bad at all. I think ACC is a bit slow with transcripts…

no he is already accepted to UT for this fall. he was just taking a class at ACC and wants to transfer it over before the orientation which is on june 15.
so if he goes up to ACC maybe around June 10 do you think it will be at UT before June 15th?

Oh I thought you were talking about A&M.
Not sure. I would call and see how long it takes.

For all of those still waiting on a response from admissions and who sent in spring grades this email probably applies to you. I got this directly from the email that a admissions advisor sent,* “I have checked your status and a final decision has not been reached yet because we would like to calculate your Spring 2009 grades into the final decision.* I see that we received your new transcript on May 18.* It may be mid to late June before you hear a final decision, but hopefully you will hear something before then.”

I was in College Station last week looking for a place and went in to talk with a financial aid counselor. I got the same info when I was in the office. They said financial aid’s provost would go back through the applications in a few months and grant Aggie Assurance to those who qualify. Sounds like an inefficient system, but a lot of stuff TAMU does has been inefficient.

Your friend just needs to call the transcript number listed on the website, provide the person their student id, and tell them it’s going to UT. ACC is able to transmit the transcript electronically and UT should get it within a few minutes of ACC’s transmission. I believe they’re charging $10 now for a transcript, and he can pay over the phone.

I would advise calling back a day or two after they say it was sent just to make sure. One of mine didn’t go out for some reason, and I didn’t find out for a few days which made me miss a deadline.

A&M received my transcript the 26th of May for spring grade consideration. Has anyone else had their spring transcripts received but not processed yet?

In my experience, it takes about 4 days for my school to send out my transcripts and be received in about 2-4 days. However, A&M took about 10 days to post my final transcript on AIS.

Oh man oh man. This has had me on edge for a while and then I found this site.

I’ve been on step 3 for a while now, then step 4 and they apparently mailed me my decision on May 28th. I got the letter alright and it says they can’t approve my application at the time and that they’re gonna reconsider me if I send my spring grades. A&M received the spring grades on May 22nd (though they took a week to do it…). I talked to a few advisors and they said I’d get in easy. o_@ I sent everything in a bit late though, but definitely before the March 15th deadline. This is just a total mess right now and I am not happy. In fact, I’m really peeved. I guess I’ll have to wait for them to reconsider me but why did they send the letter so late? If I hadn’t been looking at AIS and if my advisor hadn’t told me to send in my spring transcript, I mean…I’d be screwed ya?

I have a 3.89 GPA/GPR and I’ve taken quite a lot of math and science courses. My major is in chemical engineering and I applied to the college of engineering in chem engineering. Something has to give and it’s irritating me. I’m past Calculus and into Organic Chem at my college so it’s not like I’ve got too few relevant courses for them to look at. :x Heck, people told me my statement of purpose was great too. Dangit. Well, at least venting this makes me feel better.

I want to go to A&M but this just plain sucks.

Also where and how do you check if the spring transcript’s been processed? I know they received mine but I’d like to know if it’s been processed too.

EDIT: I’ll admit my high school grades aren’t that great, but I’ve been in college 2 years now.

I am in the same situation as you bro, just that I am applying for mechanical engineering. My spring transcript isnt processed either. It just says its received.
