<p>Iām pretty shocked to be admitted. I thought I didnāt have a chance considering my SAT scores were subpar (1680) and my drawings were so-so but I guess the portfolio, essay and grades got me in. lol. </p>
<p>Good luck with your results! I think I may defer for a year though as I do not have the means to pay for the rather large price tag at the moment. :X</p>
<p>Yeah itās much better to call them! I did the same since Iām an international applicantā¦itād take weeks for me to receive everything!</p>

<p>Mackinaw, can you tell me about college life for your daughter at risd? I just got accepted and I am definitely going, and i noticed you mentioned your daughter did ID which I am probably going to do. Was the ID program at RISD one of the most demanding time-wise? Did she have time for other activities(obviously the first year must have been near impossible) later on? I love outdoor sports and also dance, is it possible to do these? The Brown Activities Coordinator told me that almost all Brown activities are open to RISD students as well.</p>
<p>I do think ID is one of the more demanding, but RISD is pretty demanding whatever concentration you have. In my daughterās case, she didnāt get into any āorganizedā activities, in part because she worked part time in soph and junior years (she didnāt recommend working more than 7-8 hrs per week because it would impinge on her own coursework/studio time). Also her first year she got sick (mono) and so was always a course or two behind, it seemed; but she did graduate in 4 years and 1 summer, which Iām very proud of. When she had a couple of days to relax, sheād often take off for NYC to visit friends who were attending NYU or Columbia.</p>
<p>My daughter will be attending RISD in Sept. Knows that sheāll be working hard and wonders, when she has free time, what the social life is like for girls.

<p>My daughter is a junior at RISD. Her social life freshman year centered around her studio work. Freshmen spend MOST of their time in class/studio and they have so much homework that most socializing is done doing homeworkā¦and commiserating about how they are overworked! She tried to join a tap dancing group at Brown, but she couldnāt fit it into her schedule and quit. Like most RISD students, she is a perfectionist and puts in many hours completing homework assignments. There is more free time in the sophomore year as they do not require you to be in class/studio so much. She has taken weekend trips to NYC, Boston, etc. She even went on a RISD-organized ski tripā¦but once was enough for a Florida girl!</p>
