Admission result

Congrats to all who were accepted! Hoping to see you guys on campus soon :).

To those who were waitlisted: Please, please, PLEASE do not give up hope! Take it from a current First Year who was, by some miracle I still don’t understand, accepted off the waitlist last year. You’re all obviously hardworking and I urge you all to send letters of update and intent to your regional reps/the admissions office. Obviously, that won’t always be enough but it could go a long way to show that you’re committed to attending should they accept you and to provide meaningful updates on activities/grades. Calling them to ask why you were WL instead of accepted could also shed light on areas to address in your letter of update. This article was of particular help to me [You’re on the Waiting List. Now What? - NYTimes.com](You're on the Waiting List. Now What? - The New York Times)

I’m not sure how the yield will turn out, but last year I wasn’t expecting anything (apparently no one got in off the WL for class of 2014) and was extremely sad at the string of waitlists that rolled in around this time of year. But I still updated them with interest and Bowdoin’s yield turned out to be less than expected, prompting them to turn to the WL. I still remember getting that call on May 2 in English class and screaming in complete disbelief :). Getting way off track, but again don’t give up and keep trying! If not enough of the accepted applicants choose to commit, the college will turn to the WL. The March letter often isn’t the end of the game.
