Admissions Decisions....

waitlisted too

I’ve yet to receive anything as well. FL. Hmmmm. I know they received all my materials, so kinda concerned. Hope the wait isn’t bad news ><

waitlisted here as well  It seems like a lot of people were waitlisted :/

it seems as though they’ve waitlisted a lot of us. :/

…waitlisted.

I’m pretty bummed, I got waitlisted to the only East Coast schools I actually wanted to go to today. Where are you other waitlisted people thinking of going?

A lot of the accepted students from what I have seen were very well qualified though, so I don’t think I was waitlisted because of the “Tufts Syndrome.” It was probably just because Wesleyan thought I wasn’t a good fit for the school. I think Wesleyan not having a supplemental was at my disadvantage, because I’ve been really able to use the supplemental to show my enthusiasm for other schools really well, and I think I could’ve done the same thing for Wesleyan, but oh well.

To answer good13society’s question, I am so far thinking of going to Hamilton College, another rather competitive LAC (though I would rank Wesleyan as better), but I still have to hear back from four schools.

good13society - well, at the moment I still have 7 schools to hear from, 4 of which are probably incredibly difficult for me to get into. so, without having heard from those schools yet, I’m considering Bryn Mawr, Colgate and Boston College (horrah for the honors program!).

I just really wish I got into wes. I’m seriously considering accepting a position on the wait list… I just don’t know whether it’s worth it or how much of a chance I have of being accepted from the list.

NeuroticSenior you got into BC? that’s so funny, because I got into Wes but waitlisted at BC after being deferred. Funny how all this stuff works, huh?

I’m going to accept the waitlist position. If I get the acceptance in mid to late May, I will consider my options then, but for now, I don’t see the point in rejecting the waitlist position.

I’m not sure about how competitive the waitlist is for Wesleyan, but I’ve read statistics for other similarly competitive schools, and the waitlist for them is generally around 10-15% on a good year (by good year, I mean good year for the waitlistees). For ivy league schools, it is much less though.

I’ll probably accept the waitlist position but I still have to hear from the rest of my schools. The letter I (we) received mentioned that one year they took as many as 70 students from the waitlist. That’s’ almost 10% of the freshmen class!

Yeah, so I guess we should stay optimistic…and not think about that one year with 0 taken…oh shoot, I ruined it, now I’m depressed again!

I still have to hear from 4 schools, but I already know I’m not going to get into three of them.

Well Monday will be brutal, because I hear from a bunch of schools and am positive all decisions will be rejections.

lonnie117 - That IS wierd! My friend was waitlisted at BC and got into Wes too. And I have another friend who got into BC but not the honors program and got into Wes as well. I know everyone who got into Wes deserves it but I wish I knew what set me apart from them. We take the same classes, my grades are on par or higher than theirs, and we all have pretty good ECs. :frowning: I’ll stop my ramble-rant now…

i’m from chicago, caryn and i got my admissions earlier today.
accepted!

wow, I am really freaking out now. No mail on Sunday (obviously) which means two more freaking days. Wes is my last school to hear from and my first choice…I am so worried.

I subscribe to US News, and these are Wes’ waitlist stats on the 2008 edition (I think this information is 2007 since US News updates every mid-August):

Total applicants: 7,242
Accepted: 2,012 (27.8%)
Waitlisted: 1,108 (15.3%)
Applicants accepting place on waitlist: 418 (37.7% of waitlisted applicants)
Students enrolled from waitlist: 50 (12% of applicants who accepted place on waitlist)

Caveat: Above information is from a previous year. As we all know, every year is different.

@ aBeautifulMind :

I completely agree with you on that supplement thing. It is really a good way and/or a tool of showing ourselves and our interests!

I used this tool on Cornell and wrote a great essay. That might have helped me to get a LL.

I also got into Wesleyan University. No packages yet though. Only received e-mail (I am international).

Good luck to all waitlistees!

PS: How do you guys already know about your FA packages? It doesn’t say a word about FA in e-mail notification.

i’ve been waitlisted at six schools so far and i’m expecting a seventh in about a week: wesleyan, CMC, Carleton, Grinnell, Skidmore and GWU (but i believe GW thought i was using it as a safety and didn’t show interest… which was correct. and skidmore was just one of those weird results that happens to everyone). i’ll most likely be wait listed at Pomona too, my number one that i was deferred at ED

i was accepted into macalester and BC… i’m leaning towards BC now but i’m planning on staying on the wait list for all schools but GW… i must get lucky eventually right???

Yes! Miracle might happen!

FA information was in my package.

Okay, so I will have to wait for my package to come. I am sure it will take ages as usual! Or did they use priority?
