Well, Mudd does value your non-math/science credentials more than almost any other tech school. After all, it’s goal is to create scientists, mathematicians, and engineers who are well rounded in other areas and know about their work in society and humanity. I personally have not known of someone who got less than 600 on verbal/writing who is in my freshman class. Then again, I have not asked everyone their SAT scores.

In all honesty, unless you are truly astounding in math/science, I don’t think there is very high of a chance there is that you will get in if you are as weak as you say you are in humanities and social sciences. Maybe if you are just a poor test taker in verbal/writing, and you let your humanities and social sciences shine through your grades, essays, teacher rec, etc… you might be able to override the test scores. But if not, I don’t really know. And anyways, if you really don’t like or are weak in humanities and social sciences, you may not even want to come to Mudd. We have to take at least 12 semesters of humanities/social sciences courses in addition to our technical core and major courses, more than any other science/engineering focused school in the nation as far as I know.
