Admitted Student Overnight Programs

I definitely wouldn’t say that a good percentage of students get mugged. It happens pretty rarely, in my experience, and generally only to people who are walking alone late at night listening to their iPods or carrying expensive things in plain view and not paying attention to their surroundings.

Parts of Cleveland off-campus aren’t particularly safe, as you’d expect with any major city, but the Case Police force, Orientation Leaders, and older students are very good at making sure that new students know how to stay safe. University Circle, the part of Cleveland where CWRU is located, is generally considered to be pretty safe. Most of downtown is also pretty safe, too. Again, as with any major city, you have to be smart…walking around alone after dark listening to an iPod and not paying attention is a bad idea. After dark, I’ll generally either call SafeRide (a service that escorts our students from campus and several surrounding areas to anywhere on campus) or walk with a friend. I’m from a pretty small, suburban town in New Jersey, and I’ve never felt unsafe while on or off campus. We get security alerts notifying us of any muggings or robberies that occur on campus, or in any area around campus that students will typically frequent. I’ve posted a link below that should answer any questions you have!
