adopting a stray cat

* I tried to pick him up and drop him upside down.*

Why?

You could easily lose a battle with a cat if they decide to go at you for real with their claws.

I upend the carrier with the door at the top.
Use a receiving blanket/ bath towel to wrap cat.( quickly. Drop.Wrap.Stuff.)
Plop in carrier.
Shut & latch door.
If needed I gave them a squirt of cod liver oil/ yeast concoction designed to make meds more palatable, by the time they licked it off their gums, they were in the carrier!
Rarely did both of my cats need to go to the vet at the same time, but we also used a cardboard pet carrier when necessary.
Helping your cat become accustomed to handling, by brushing fur, checking ears, clipping claws & brushing teeth regularly, will make vet visits less stressful for everyone.
I needed to give our oldest cat not only meds, but subcutaneous fluids daily for her last 4-5 years, so helping her become used to handling, extended her life. ( she was 21 yrs old when she died)

[that’s why](<a href=“Slow Motion Flipping Cat Physics | Smarter Every Day 58 - YouTube”>Slow Motion Flipping Cat Physics | Smarter Every Day 58 - YouTube)

and I trimmed his claws. He can still do plenty of damage, but we’re just playing around. Maybe that’s not so smart on my part. I have a bunch of cuts right now…

I tried to pick him up and drop him upside down.

Why?

It is easier to put a crate on end and drop the cat down inside , back legs first , head last. A lot easier than head first where the can put their brakes on and struggle

I must have misunderstood, it sounded like he was trying to get the cat to do stupid pet tricks.
I didnt realize it was only to get the cat into the carrier.

no, I was doing it for shts and giggles.
