<p>It all depends on the school. Honestly I don’t really think it matters which system your school is on, until you start looking at schools that have mandatory summer terms (I don’t think most quarter systems do).</p>
<p>Most classes at my school are worth 3 credits and meet 3 hours a week. If you have something like a science class with lectures and recitations, or a studio art class that meets 6 hours a week, it might be 4 credits instead. Graduation requirements are set up so that you pretty much take 5 classes each term (about 15 credits). You have to be taking at least 12 credits (4 classes) to be counted as a full-times student, and the max is 20 credits, which translates into six classes.</p>
<p>I always hear about people having papers and whatnot assigned over spring break, or taking break 2 weeks before their finals. As of about 8pm tomorrow, I will have 1.5 weeks of spring break and absolutely nothing academic to do. :D</p>
