Advice for a Costco Newbie

Costco is emailing the “12 days of deals”. Today, for Day 6, they have bidet toilet seats on sale and an electric vehicle charger. Whoo hoo!

Seriously, I have my giant bag of asparagus from last week and I’m determined to finish it today. It looks just as good as day 1.

I’ve been getting those 12 Days emails and opening them each day and they are making me wonder if I fit the Costco demographic/target audience because there is NOTHING I want, especially yesterday’s offerings.

I don’t remember them doing this before this year. It is a bit garish! Of course, this time of year brings out the electronics offers which I find overwhelming and not interesting most of time.

Does anyone know the price of the Apple Watch series 4 with WiFi? I’m not a Costco member but might think about it. I’m sure I would use the membership

The Little Giant ladder is awesome. 19’ tall max extended height! Anyone with a house needs one of those ladders.

@deb922 what model do you want? They have quite a few different models in a range of prices.

@doschicos - yes, they sell gun safes. So what. It does not mean Costco only caters to gun nuts.

Tires, wine, rotisserie chicken, store branded ibuprofen. The best avocados I have ever eaten came from Costco, so I always take a swing through the produce section to see if there is anything good.

As a semi-professional photographer, I know that the legendary “eneloop” rechargeable batteries are wildly popular among photographers. Costco carries them and they go on sale once in awhile. These batteries retain about 80% of the juice after a full year just sitting on shelf and therefore, as a rechargeable NimH batteries, it comes closest to alkaline batteries. These are great for TV remotes, mouse, digital clocks, etc. Each set can be recharged for more than 1K times, so definitely makes economic sense over those alkalines and environmentally friendlier, too. I have about 100 of these cells…

@deb922 , I’m showing the Costco price for Apple Watch Series 4 GPS at $385. That is NOT the GPS + Cellular version.

The Series 3 GPS is showing out of stock online but is currently on sale for $229.

Watch out for the avocados. I find that when they’re grown in Peru or Chile they never properly ripen. I’ve returned them before. Now I only buy them if they’re grown in Mexico. I’ve never seen Cali ones for sale at my Costco.

@greenwitch I agree, the avocados from Mexico are better. I stopped buying the Costco ones.
I’m fortunate to work with people who have avocado groves and I get wonderful California avocados for free from time to time.

I get tree ripened FL avocados ?. I have a huge one sitting on my counter now.

Sorry, I just looked at this. I want the 40mm. Thanks, $398 is only $10 off. I’ll either buy it at Target and use my 5% off for the Target Card or buy it at the Apple store.

While the price may not be that different, Costco typically adds a bunch of extra warranty to the electronics it sells, and its 90 day return policy is great (we used it once on a computer we hated).

I didn’t pay attention but often the Costco tech products come with extra goodies - like extra cords, chargers, etc. I got a whole “extras” set with my iPhone 8+.

The Thermoflask quart sized insulated drink containers that Costco carries are the absolute best containers I’ve ever used. I’m doing outdoors activities in the Florida summers and the Thermoflask is the only thing that will keep water cold for an entire day. They don’t leak even in rough conditions and they have a smooth area to drink from since the threads are inside the mouth of the container. They’re not cheap, but they’re a bargain compared to the comparable containers and they are absolutely The Best.

Is there any advantage to getting an iphone at Costco vs elsewhere? D and I are trying to go to a month to month plan and need one upgrade of a phone. My Costco is a trek, so get out there rarely.

Eating tasty Uzbek-style pilaf I just made from Costco rice. Niko Niko (I think that’s what the brand is called) rice from the 25-lb bag purchased at least 3 years ago and stored in an airtight container.
