Changing major is really hard at public schools. Also, I know somebody in Vandy who lost the scholarship when they changed major.
Hard/difficult I get - and it can be easy or really hard. All depends on the program the kid is trying to transfer into. If it’s a different “school” at the University in some cases it might not even be an option/impossible. I’ve just never heard of it costing $$ to change major - other than the fact that it might set the kid back semesters. But I’ve certainly not done a deep dive into research of the topic and there may be instances.
