Your ACT composite is sitting on the low end of acceptance rates. The 25th percentile for ACT Composite is 26 and the 75th percentile is 30. The UHC Eligibility starts at 32 (which is around the starting point for scholarship money).

The breakdown per section is similar:

ACT Math: 25th percentile- 26, 75th percentile- 33
ACT English: 25th percentile- 26, 75th percentile- 33
ACT Writing (required for Pitt): 25th percentile- 8, 75th percentile- 9

The fact that you are an IB Diploma student will help (that is DEFINITELY a rigorous courseload) but it really isn’t going to help much when your ACT Composite and especially your ACT Math are pretty low. What was your writing score? Keep in mind you HAVE to take the ACT with the writing part in order for Pitt to count it.

It also helps if you tell us what you are applying for- someone going for business/nursing/Engineering should have a higher score (esp. in Math/Science) than someone going for English Lit or Psych.

If your new ACT score will be in by September, I would encourage holding off on applying until then. They don’t send out acceptances until the start of October anyway, so you won’t really be behind.

I would also make a big, complete application: Write a good essay, get 3 great LoRs hopefully related to what you want to study, create a resume of activities you have done in HS. Those will all help you in the event your ACT score does not improve.
