Aerial combat in the war against terrorism

The military channel has been showing “Operation Anaconda” over the last week. This showcases the efforts of a combined group of Navy, Army, AF spec ops in Afgahnistan. During the operation a Navy Seal from Davis Ca. fell from the back of a chinook helicopter. The Seal was captured and killed. In the battle that ensued several more Spec Operators lost their lives. Including AF PJ Jason Cunnigham and AF Combat Controller Tsgt Chapman.

During this battle several close air support runs were made by F-15’s led by “Junior” Short and F-16 runs by “Divot” Bartley. They dropped bombs within the “Danger Close” area. This was one example of how the Air Force continues to work in the conflicts we face today.
