" I have been looking into VIRTUS but I was wondering if you could be in it while also being involved in something like the Gemstone program at the Honor’s College?"

Yes, you can do both - sort of. The Virtus program has mandatory housing, meaning you can only participate if you live in the Virtus dorm (Easton - which has a/c). So, you can be enrolled in Gemstone/Honors/Scholars, but you have to choose to live in Easton in order to do both. However, if you choose to live in the community/residence hall designated specifically for your Gemstone/Honors/Scholars program, you cannot apply to Virtus (there is an application AFTER you are accepted and enrolled in engineering which comes out in April -ish). Housing is not mandatory for Gemstone/Honors/Scholars, but highly recommended, and from what I was told, the majority (but NOT all) do opt to live with their program… at least for freshman year.

I had asked that very question at the parent portion of an accepted students program. The student ambassador who answered that question was in an honors program and chose to live in Easton so she could participate in FLEXUS also and was very happy with her decision. I don’t think there is a wrong choice, just a question of preference.
