Affordable Care Act Scene 2 - Insurance Premiums

Romani got all the way through on healthcare.gov.

Forgot Romani. For some reason I thought Michigan had a state plan.

Yes. I don’t know how big an effect this is, though. Most health charges are incurred by people who have gone way past any out-of-pocket limit.

What do you mean a state plan? Like a state exchange or Medicaid expansion?

I think of those not expanding Medicaid as not having their own exchange either.

I am not certain which States have expanded Medicaid but chose not to have their own exchange.

Michigan is the most screwy state of them all IMO. We “expanded” Medicaid but it’s not expanded until April! So those of us between 100% & 133% of poverty kind of get a double whammy. We’re not eligible for the exchange but we also don’t qualify for Medicaid until April.

Of course, we’re still more fortunate than non-expansion states where those under 100% don’t have any options other than non-subsidy plans.

So…I’m still not sure. Romani, did you sign up on healthcare.gov, or does your state have their own exchange website? Because if you signed up on a different site than the federal site, that would only be a reflection of your own state website working well. Personally when I try to go onto the healthcare marketplace, all I get is a message that says, “access denied!”

Sorry, Michigan does not have their own exchange. We are part of the federal dotgov site. I signed up using healthcare.gov

I was one of the ones stuck in identity verification purgatory. After the overhaul a week ago, it was very easy to sign up.

I just went to the healthcare site and logged in. Seems to be working OK out here!

ETA: It looks like Washington isn’t using the federal system. They’re using a state one. (If I recall correctly that that’s the state you hail from  )

’‘I have absolutely no idea what our deductible is.’

If you had a 2014 ACA-compatible individual plan, I can guarantee you would know what your deductible is.

“ETA: It looks like Washington isn’t using the federal system. They’re using a state one. (If I recall correctly that that’s the state you hail from)”

Yep, that’s true. But…why would I have access denied? They couldn’t possibly deny people access based on my internet location code. I say that, because I can’t imagine them being sophisticated enough to do it!

That’s interesting because I have no idea what my 2014 ACA-compatible individual plan deductible is off the top of my head. It’s easy to find out but I don’t know what it is right now.

busdriver, I have no idea. I’m able to get on the site just fine… is it not letting you on at all or is it just not letting you make an account?

This site, right? https://www.wahealthplanfinder.org/HBEWeb/Annon_DisplayHomePage.action?authn_try_count=0&contextType=external&username=string&contextValue=%2Foam&password=sercure_string&challenge_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wahealthplanfinder.org%2FHBEWeb%2FAnnon_DisplayHomePage.action&request_id=-9113006952646987678&locale=en_US&resource_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.wahealthplanfinder.org%252FHBEWeb%252F</a></p>

Have you tried using a different browser?

ETA: OH! Are you talking about not getting on the healthcare.gov site? I have no idea why it would say that. No, I very much doubt it’s because of where you’re located lol.

I don’t understand technology so I have no clue. I’d still try using a different browser just to give it a shot.

“That’s interesting because I have no idea what my 2014 ACA-compatible individual plan deductible is off the top of my head. It’s easy to find out but I don’t know what it is right now.”

That’s because you’re an alumnus of Michigan State. :)

Ouch, GP.

I hope you aren’t a Buckeye. ;)

Aren’t you just a peach, GP?

Actually, no I’m not.

You just got there. Maybe by the time you finish…

BTW, congrats on that nice MSU Big Ten win. The D was pretty happy that MSU won over that place in Ohio.

Alumna, I think is the correct term.

LOL SLS, I edited it anyway because I noticed something (yes- that was what I noticed… I am not an alumnus ;)) . And sooner than I think- I’m a few days away from being 1/4 done with my program. Yikes!

And thank you :). Most Michigan people were. (I stress MOST… lol)

It will go fast.

Time flies.

“I hope you aren’t a Buckeye.”

Nah, I hate the Big 10
