Affordable Care Act Scene 2 - Insurance Premiums

A Minnesota exchange employee sent the social security numbers for 2,400 insurance agents to an agent’s office.
Although the first security breach for this exchange, it serves as a reminder of the lack of security for the privacy data the exchanges are collecting from millions of people.

The law does not need “major surgery” and it’s not going to get “major surgery”. It needs a few tweaks. People who are banking on ACA being repealed or getting a major overhaul are going to be seriously disappointed.

That a lot of people believe ACA is going to cover long term health care tells me that a lot of people still don’t understand the law. It’s been over 3 years now since its been passed and all the information on ACA has been out there forever. It’s obvious to me that a lot of people simply have not spent any time at all understanding the law. That is their fault, not the fault of the law in any way, shape or form.

Another report referencing Heritage or so obviously stacking the details doesn’t convince me ACA should go away. None of the disputable links do, goes without saying. We still need affordable care. Taking away ACA would leave millions in the lurch. Affording nursing home care is separate from getting medical care up to that dire point.

Target is also based in MN. They got hacked. Maybe we should surrender all our credit cards. Find better links or we’re still going in circles.

Moderator’s Note:

This thread is getting out of hand.

Don’t really care if someone wants to dream about a repeal or adjustment. We will discuss changes to law only if the White House wants to discuss it since they seem to be changing the rules.

Otherwise, some pipedreams about ACA going away will be considered POLITICAL discussion.

Good morning, everyone. :-)

Just curious…Heritage foundation is an invalid and tainted source (as are supposedly other ‘leaning in a certain direction’ sources) but the Cobert and Stewart videos linked to by Calmom a while back (danged those missing post numbers) received not one outcry of ‘tainted and leaning’. hmm…one sees what one wants on both sides of the wall.

LF

<a href=“HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost”>HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost;

Hopefully this is a better ‘correctly leaning’ link. See, the Target CTO resigned given the problems…now THAT is addressing the issue.

Both videos were from staunch conservative American Stephen Colbert. Yet more attempts by the conservatives among us to put forward ACA horror stories: poor Sir Patrick Stew-- er, poor Chuck Dupree, losing his health insurance.

I consider colbert a comedian and not a news source. If he was a news source, I would pull those links.

texaspg: Thanks for responding…that makes sense.

Does anyone know if we meet the deadline of March 31st, when the coverage is expected? Are people still seeing issues with their invoices (multiple or none…).

huh? source, please? (Colbert has publicly admitted to being a Dem.)

Not trying to raise the political tex, but so-called “factual” posts cry out for a response (or deletion).

Texaspg, you have to sign up by Mar 15 for Apr 1 coverage. After that, your coverage starts on May 1st,

Yes. There are still problems.

Dstark, the last time I checked the website, they’ve pushed back the application deadline to March 31 (for April 1 coverage). That was last week.

BB - There is a reporting tool which has been generously used by people on this thread when they don’t like something.:D

LasMa, I dont see that. Where are you looking?

thanks tx, but I still have trouble finding the bathroom on this new site. :)

Bluebayou. CF was joking. :)

I guess you’ve never watched the Colbert Report, then, so I am forced to explain the joke that went right over your head. Stephen Colbert’s comedy shtick is to pretend he is a conservative with a conservative news show. In the clip calmom linked, from the Comedy Channel, Colbert lampooned Obamacare horror stories that have since been debunked, by having famous actor Sir Patrick Stewart obviously overacting portraying a Louisiana fisherman who had lost his insurance.

Stephen Colbert is a Democrat. “Stephen Colbert” is a Republican. I didn’t expect anyone to be deceived when I joked blandly that Stephen Colbert is a conservative, because I figured most people know his shtick.

Not only (personally) insulting, cf, but your logic escapes me. If I have never seen the CR, then I wouldn’t know it a joke, right? If so, then it could not have gone ‘over my head’. :stuck_out_tongue:

Missed 300+ posts while on vacation…not going to try and catch up.

But… I was with D, who works in the industry. She happened to have with her printouts from several different practices showing what insurances they accept. Let’s just say…it is a mess. One of them looked like it was done on a typewriter. It is a huge source of patient dissatisfaction. Address to which bills are to be sent appears to be the best level of granularity, but not all offices use this. One said, “All federal plans,” which we thought might meant all plans available to federal employees, but that doesn’t make sense either.
