dstark, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. I don’t think it should go to the level of specific hospitals, but maybe there could be extra tiers. There could be Platinum-Plus, which would include more providers than Platinum, and Platinum-SuperDuper, which would include almost all. Then there would be the Hope Diamond tier, for those who will settle for nothing less than Cedars Sinai et al. All tiers priced accordingly. It’s pure free market.

The Hope Diamond is approximately what that level would cost.

That’s OK, Fang. Not many Lamborghinis are sold, but for those who want one and can pay for it, the option is there. My taste runs more along the lines of a Rav4. It does the job for me, and I can afford it.

By the same token, those who absolutely must have access to the Hope Diamond providers should have that choice. But they should expect to pay a whole lot more for the privilege. Some will be willing to pay that extra.

No A380s, LasMa, maybe as a passenger one day.

Comforting to know you guys are still arguing about the same stuff and I haven’t missed a thing!

My son wanted to be a pilot for a while. But, no military so no piloting.

I have no problem with people paying Lamborghini prices for Lamborghinis. Me, I’m happy with a new bike.

Yeah… Tiers could work.
I could see a scenario where all these people sign up for a specific hospital and then too many of those people get sick. Then there is a scenario like the Producers. :)

But maybe not.

Too expensive to do it on your own.

He’s got to spend his money on health insurance that guarantees him free mammograms and gyn check ups.

“Comforting to know you guys are still arguing about the same stuff and I haven’t missed a thing!”

I think we are coming to some agreements. Not unanimous but we are close enough on some issues.

The cancellation and then the extension of plans…Most of us on both sides agree this isnt an economic issue.

I dont see too much stuff about young people signing up anymore as key but I think we all agree that healthy people better sign up.

I think most of us know we arent repealing ACA.

I think most posters agree that there should be more choices concerning networks.

Emilybee might have me on a bet. Emilybee said the Mar 31 date is not going to be extended and I said it is in some cases. The administration said the date is not going to be extended yesterday. :)

That’s the thing. Most of the people who sign up for the Hope Diamond plan are going to be diabetics with heat disease, cancer and hang nails. And they’ll be pregnant, too. It’s not going to be a bargain rate insurance plan.

I wish I understood the Producers joke. I bet it’s funny.

CF, are you pulling my leg? :)

Agree with dstark’s list, and I also think most of us agree that the ACA could use significant modification. We might even agree on some of the modifications.

That is a problem.

Hang nails can be pretty pricey.

It’s not a problem if it’s priced right. There will be enough Goldenpooches to keep the plan away from the adverse selection death spiral. I think.

GP will never pay up.

stark, maybe not, but that will be his choice. He wouldn’t be able to complain that his beloved expensive providers were ripped away from him. The option would be there, and he could decide if it’s worth the price or not.

Fang, agree that most of us think ACA could use modifications. What’s going on right now is a starting point. Five years from now, I’d bet most of the big problems will have been addressed (except the philosophical objections which will never go away no matter what).

Yeah, GP will pay more to get Cedars. Something calmom pointed out he ( or she) could do, several thousand posts ago.

LF, I was out of the loop with this thread for a month or two when my dad passed away, so I May have missed that

Sorry to read about your dad LasMa.
