@"NYCMOML&L Actually herd immunity is a very well known concept and is certainly not MY opinion. Scoff all you want to but you might be better served if you look up perspectives on this pandemic #2 which features a renowned epidemiologist who discusses herd immunity at length. Herd immunity is actually how most pandemics have been fought in our long history of battling viruses. Note there was not a vaccine for Spanish Flu or actually for the vast, vast majority of pandemics that humans have fought and won across many millenia, whose battle scars are imprinted in our DNA.
So yes, feel free to listen to Dr. Fauci if you wish but there are quite a few epidemiologists who would disagree with him. I prefer to look at the bigger picture so I will listen to various experts, including experts who will not only take the death toll of the virus into account but also weigh that against the increased rate of unemployment, suicides, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, child abuse etc. This does not include the pause in future works from delay in research for new cures, inventions, theories etc. due to this lock down. And yes, we are practicing social distancing now but the question should be, do we need to? Look at Sweden vs. Norway. Sweden practiced social distancing, Norway did not. Who has the better results? Hint - Norway has decided to roll back their lockdown.
