His food tester said he was vegetarian ( except for sausage)
[Adolf Hitler’s Vegetarianism: Last Surviving Food Tester, Margot Woelk, Confirms Meat-Free Lifestyle](<a href=“HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost”>HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost)

Really, this is not remarkable. Look at Germany immediately prior to WW II. It’s natural to blame someone else for ones own misfortune, and if you belong to a community that supports that belief . . . well, we’ve seen what can happen.

And, to be sucked into a mindset where it’s not only normal, but expected, that one behave antisocially . . . well, look at any cult that demands that its members cut off all contact with friends and family. And lots of perfectly normal, loving, non-bug killing, non-meat eating adults fall prey to these communities.

Combine the two (personal misfortune and brainwashing) and anything can happen.

Add to this an educational system in some countries that grossly distorts both history and current events (see [post #82](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/1497219-aftermath-boston-bombing-half-truths-fantastic-tales-3.html#post15872810) above), as happened in pre-WW II Germany, and it’s easy for things to take a deadly turn.

Russians handed this guy to use on a silver platter and we botched it…no excuse for what happened. As for the mother being stunned? I doubt it, from her words, I would say she knew darn well what her boys were all about.

<a href=“Opinion | My Son, the Terrorist - The New York Times”>Opinion | My Son, the Terrorist - The New York Times;

Other mothers understand defending their sons.

News reports there are recordings of her “vaguely” talking with her sons about a jihad. Looka at the expression on her face and her body language here (from NPR) [Tamerlan Tsarnaev Spoke Of Jihad With Mother, Reports Say : The Two-Way : NPR](<a href=“Tamerlan Tsarnaev Spoke Of Jihad With Mother, Reports Say : The Two-Way : NPR”>Tamerlan Tsarnaev Spoke Of Jihad With Mother, Reports Say : The Two-Way : NPR)

Cartera-- thats a funny satire by Larry David!

The Larry David satire is hilarious!

The mother looks completely defiant in that photo. I wouldn’t be surprised if she talked jihad with her sons. One of her former clients, who came to the house regularly for facials, stopped going because she was uncomfortable with her radical rants.

If there is really is evidence that she texted with her son about his dying for Islam, then she is as much of a criminal as he is.

That’s a pretty pathetic defense of the mother. If “other people” had children who engaged in terrorism and had a conversation discussing that terrorism before it happened, they should be killed as well.

Nrdsb–that’s my take as well. I do understand the psychological shock and the inability to fathom that her sons could have done this, however her utter denial of the actual bombing is despicable. The lady doth protest too much…

she had felony charges against her and fled this country, frankly she sounds like a sociopath who may have contributed to raising two sociopaths. In an article in the NYT today,
If Mr. Tsarnaev was chastened by the defeat, it did not temper his behavior. During a preliminary round of the New England Golden Gloves in 2010, in a breach of boxing etiquette, he entered the locker room to taunt not only the fighter he was about to face but also the fighter’s trainer. Wearing a cowboy hat and alligator-skin cowboy boots, he gave the two men a disdainful once-over and said: “You’re nothing. I’m taking you down.”

<a href=“A Battered Dream for Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Then a Violent Path - The New York Times”>A Battered Dream for Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Then a Violent Path - The New York Times;

His disdainful attitude along with his domestic violence arrest tell a lot about who he really was. This was not a religious person, this was a person using the cover of Muslim extremism to vent his rage at a world that he believed owed him everything. When I see and hear this mother speak she sounds the same way. She hates America for not keeping her sons safe!? This is the ranting of a sociopath, reminds me of the man who, after murdering his parents, begged for the court’s mercy because he was orphaned.

Love the Larry David satire!

I too think the mother has something to do with this. I thought I heard on Friday that the parents left Dagestan for an undisclosed location. I’m not sure that was accurate, but it did make me wonder.

yes, if her remaining son is an innocent being framed by the U.S. government, why isn’t she on the first flight over to see him, console him, and help him?

I also am befuddled by older bomber’s wife. I thought I read that she was living with her parents prior to the bombing, now the claim is she and the baby lived in that apartment? So the day of the bombing she came home from work and what, they talked about their days?? Wonder what her parents are thinking, their daughter converted for this man, was basically the sole financial support for the family, what would we be saying if this was our daughter, (prior to the bombing) I can imagine a thread a mother might post, my daughter dropped out of college and is involved with a n’er do well? I do feel for this family. This may have been mentioned on this thread, but what do we think about the family seeing the photos of the two bombers and not reporting? Did they intervene and get the daughter and granddaughter out of that house?

I feel so bad for that little daughter :(

From what I understand, the wife of bomber one called her husband and told him the FBI was watching him. I do not know if she could be charged as an accomplice because of this action, and if this may play into why she is presently hiding behind a lawyer.

I also know that the friends of bomber two thought he looked like the guy the FBI posted, but couldn’t believe it was him, so presumably they didn’t call the FBI with an identity.

Oh come on - read for comprehension. There are plenty of other things she can be condemned for, but I was addressing only the crazy things she’s saying to the press. If we condemn her for that, then there are others who are just as nuts and they have media outlets right here in this country. I’m fine with holding the “false flag” conspiracy theorists partially to blame. They may well have blood on their hands.

Those were just a few friends (from a large high school) who chose to be interviewed. You should not assume that they are representative.

The brothers lived in the same neighborhood for over 10 years, and lots of people knew them. People who call the FBI don’t necessarily want to announce that on TV.

Read today that Judy Clarke has joined PD Miriam Conrad on the defense team. No one can claim that he won’t get the benefit of an excellent defense.

Save everyone lots ot money and time. Here’s your deal life without parole or we go for death penalty. You choose. You have 15 minutes.

Under MA law, this scumbag could have been interrogated for days without being mirandized. I would like to know who called the judge to the hospital…

MA law? Miranda warnings are Constitutional, not local. The public safety exemption only applies while there is an immediate danger to the public, which is why it “wears off”.

While I understand outrage, this is a US citizen. If it were you, would you want to be denied your Constitutional rights? If someone wants to take away something important to you, would it be ok because, hey, that person was outraged?

Hmm, this is a tough one. The bomber took away peoples’ legs and family members (pretty important), presumably because he was outraged about something. No, thats not ok. I say, lets bring back an eye-for-an-eye and put him in a room with a pressure cooker bomb. Then after that, lets talk about guaranteeing him his Constitutional rights.

People who believe that are more dangerous and bigger threats to the country than the terrorists.
