We have been able to see our Mid before the A-N games for both years now. The Mids have to stay in their company areas in the parking lot, however many parents find their way over there for a quick “hello” before the game, and it’s the perfect opportunity to establish a meeting place for afterwards. Parents do not hang out in the area mind you; more like a quick “hello, hug and photo” before we head into our seats and the Mids form up for the game…in the past we have brought some home-made cookies or brownies to passed around the company, which have been appreciated! (we also bring extra handwarmers…they get “issued” some, but the extra’s we bring always manage to find a home in someone’s pocket!!)

Mids will sit together for the game, and there is usually time afterwards to meet and tailgate, at least until the busses pull out! In the past, there have been “early” busses heading back to Annapolis (leave about an hour after the game ends) and “later” busses…your Mid will be told what time they have to be back. Let your Mid be your guide as to what will work best for them- some have a pile of work waiting for them back on the yard, and as much as they might like to take a later bus, there are reasons why they might want to leave earlier.

Something else to consider-
there is a fundraiser out of West Point where you can order a panoramic picture of the entire Brigade of Midshipmen or the Corps of Cadets after they complete their march-on into the stadium… not too expensive, and worth every penny! Notices go out over the parent’s listserv (at least for USNA), so keep your eyes peeled and make sure to get your order in! You will need a magnifying glass to find your “Waldo,” but the sight of all those white covers out on the field is amazing!

As far as the USNA-Air Force Game:
if held at home, the entire Brigade attends.
If held at AF, Mids can ask for a movement order to attend. In the past they were relatively easy to get, however under ADM Fowler, the number of mids granted MO’s for away games has been very limited, it at all. (For plebes, highly unlikely they will go… upperclass can attend away games if they are on liberty, however that usually does not start until after their last committment on Fri evening, or early Saturday, thus, not always allowing sufficient time to travel to an away game.)
